Shady Bend Trail is west of Osborne on city
property, accessible by the asphalt road off West Main Street leading
to the golf course.
When the paved road turns south to the golf course
club house, go to the right and continue west on the rock road. The
trail head is on this road just before the gate to the shooting range.
The trail is roughly 3 miles of single track and lies
entirely in a wooded area. It consists of five loops that I will have
trail markers up soon.
The terrain is nearly flat apart from an old stream
bank and some shallow sink holes that are incorporated to add a bit
of spice to some of the trail sections. Trail sections will be marked
"easy" or "intermediate" for the benefit of folks
with virtually no off road experience.
Intermediate sections tend to have tighter turns and
a few little surprises, but nothing a rider with even minimal experience
won't be able to handle.
While much of this trail is suited to an easy cruise
in the woods, ride it fast and it takes on a whole new character.
